Bercy Indoor 2004 , a blue storm under the dome !
Ahd riders did the show in Bercy , climbing on the three disciplins
podiums
THE 2004 Kone, PWA, Bercy, Indoor.
PWA PRESS RELEASE: March 27th 2004.
The return of indoor windsurfing to its spiritual home, Bercy stadium in Paris, thrilled French crowds during an incredible night of extreme windsurfing action.
In a night where the new generation PWA sailors went to battle against the experienced old guard, young guns Ricardo Campello (JP, Neil Pryde) and Kauli Seadi (AHD, Naish) came through victorious in the freestyle and jump, with Robby Naish (Naish) showing he is still a formidable force on the water, storming to victory in the slalom.
JUMP
The three man jump final saw an incredible battle between experienced indoor veterans Robby Naish of Hawaii and French favorite Eric Theime who were challenged by the explosive Kauli Seadi of Brazil.
With the best two of three jumps counting, all three sailors played it safe in the opening bout with forward loops.
In the second round Theime, clocked up more safe points opting for a table top, Naish nailed another forward whilst Seadi risked a more difficult back loop but crashed in the process.
The final round of jumps saw Robby nail a tweaked out table top and Theime raise his game with a spiraling one handed forward.
With Naish holding a clear lead, Seadi needed to produce something outrageous for the final jump of the evening to stand a chance of challenging for the jump title.
Willed on by the screaming French crowds the unpredictable Brazilian answered with an insane air chacho, clocking up a massive 28 points which gave him victory over Naish by the narrowest of margins.
SLALOM
In the four man slalom final, Robby stormed ahead straight off the ramp with Albeau hot on his heels.
After a hectic pile up at the first gybe Campello emerged in second place with Naish holding a clear lead way out in front.
Racing giant Antoine Albeau put the pressure on in the closing stages and managed to snake into second ahead of Campello, to clinch second behind Naish.
FREESTYLE
An incredible flaka and a perfect grubby were the two moves which confirmed victory for PWA freestyle world champion Ricardo Campello (JP, Neil Pryde) in the freestyle finals. Progressive French young gun Nicholas Akgazciyan (AHD, Neil Pryde) took second also nailing a flaka and a willy skipper 360.
Akgazciyan could have won if he had landed a radical switch stance chacho, the only one attempted of the evening.
Campello˙?s Margarita training partner, ˙?Cheo˙? Diaz took the remaining podium position nailing an impressive flat water forward, a slick grubby and a flaka.
Kauli Seadi˙?s air chacho, the final jump of the evening, appropriately was the show stopping move which brought the 2004 Bercy indoor to a dramatic climax.
The PWA young gun sent the French crowds into a frenzy after leapfrogging his way into victory in the jump contest over ex world champion Robby Naish.
It was Naish However who came away with the overall indoor victory with the combined results of the slalom and jump competitions.
Seadi and Campello will be leaving France as soon as possible to compete in the next event on the PWA tour calendar the The PWA Hawaii Pro, Presented by Severne Sails which kicks of on Monday 29th of March.
Stay tuned to the PWA we site for all the news pictures and results brought to you daily when the event kicks off!

Little story from the AHD paddock:
Kauli was using production Type F 60 boards for slalom and jumps
and a proto for freestyle .
Antoine was using production AA pro model 70 but realized that
he missed volume and width for these incredibly gusty conditions .
So we ran into a parisian surf shop and picked up a production Type F 75 that Antoine used in slalom and even in jumps in the end .Great thanks to Mathieu from Magic surf Paris.
Nicolas was using a production Type F 60 in slalom and a proto in freestyle.
Congrats to all our team .

SXM challenge St Martin
18 years old Antoine Questel wins overall !
Nice conditions for the SXM challenge 2004 editionSome of the best formula riders like Gonzalo Costa Hoevel or
Remi Vila , the carribean killer, have made the trip .
Antoine Questel ( the future Albeau ?) managed smartly his races and his gear to be on top every day when Gonzalo got some bad luck with his masts and Rémi missed a buoy and was disqualified.
1st day , 10-18 knots 4 races , Antoine 2nd in any race.
2nd day , island tour speed crossing, 25-30 knots , pretty wavy, Antoine 1st.
3rd day , freestyle, 15 knots, Antoine 1st .
Antoine Questel 1st overall

Congrats Antoine and keep it up !

-3eme jour, free-style, 15 noeuds, Antoine 1er
-Classement overall 1er Antoine Questel

Bravo Antoine et continue comme ça !

Antoine injured
bad news for the AHD team presence in the midwinters
After have been caught with his friend Julien Taboulet in a one and half mast high set in Maui, Antoine was properly washed and broke all his stuff. By the way he knocked his own broken mast into his left leg .
He got then 18 stitches inside and outside and is now forced to take some rest .
" I'm sorry not to be able to go to the midwinters but I'm still have to pick some carbon spare parts out of my leg. Tinho and his crew are always doing a very nice event downthere and I know a lot of people is waiting to see my first runs on the new AHD Formula 955 NT.
But that's life and my sponsors and me agreed that I should better
stay quiet for a few days to come back stronger than ever .
See you soon guys ." Antoine
Last news Antoine was already walking again and could be ready sooner than expected for the next events.
