CONCEPTWAVE vs SEAL

Which one shall offer you the best sessions?

The AHD R&D has, for a number of years already, concentrated on developing and refining the tri-fins concept.

Both our Wave ranges can be sailed in either tri-fins or single fin configuration.

With the current release of our new Concept Wave boards, we thought we should give you a few guidelines to help you make the most adapted choice to your practice.

Concept Wave boards are longer for a given volume and their outline is less rounded.

Their top-speed is higher; they are more stable and have more lift.

This is a board aimed at fun-riders and racers who like to thrash at full speed in any wind and wave conditions.

The Seal is a very short and wider board.

It planes very early, but has not been designed for flat, lengthy speed-sailing.

It is a very responsive board, which shines when sailing rail to rail.

The Seal is aimed at riders who favour surfing the waves, never overpowered, sometimes underpowered, in side-on, side-off or off-shore conditions.

Which board is more floaty and easy to sail in non planing mode through the break? Seal 88 or CW 87? I think you're missing a 91-93 liter waveboard in the collection. Any plans of adding one? MercĂ Ras

Hi, Seal is the board for non planing. Really compact it seems more than 88 L.

Bruno, I have a 101L Seal and a Sealion on the way to me was just wanting to know your thoughts on a smaller board. I weigh 97kg and was looking at either the Seal 88L or Concept 87L I want to bascially know would you use a seal in large waves like Margret River or would you go the concept wave. Pete

Hi Pete, Go for the Concept Wave 87 or NewRebound93 if you need more volume. Seal 88 is mostly for light/medium weight riders and light wind conditions. CW is dedicated to high speed, powerfull rides, and higher winds. To complete your quiver, CW is the best choice! Bruno

Thanks Bruno. So what you mean is that a seal 88 planes earlier than a concept wave 87? I'm looking for a larger board to compliment my 75 liter waveboard. I weigh 82 kilos.

Hi Rasmus, yes, Seal 88 plans erlier as dedicated to low power. OFO width is almost +2cm than ConceptWave! For your weight, Seall 88 is perfect for 7 to 20 knots, with 5.5 and 5.0, surf conditions.

Hey AHD How wave oriented is the Rebound 93 exactly? Will it satisfy an expert rider as big wave board? And is this a new shape for 2009? thank you

New Rebound is a new shape! Same "outline"spirit as the Concept Wave. This is the reason why we did not make any bigger Concept Wave, as the NewRebound could supply it. So the New Rebound works in waves!! definitely! Check the action gallery on the New Rebound's page.

Hi Bruno, i'm looking for a board giving pleasure in euro/ baltic conditions, hence responsive and a bit floaty, and being a match to my 104L crossover board. I'm weighting in at 75kg, intermediate+ surfer, and would like to use it down to 3.7/ 4.0 conditions as well, ( 2 board strategy). Had a look at the CW 77- what's you're opinion/ idea? thanks flx

Hi, good choice! CW77 is fast with good control. That will match with your hopes. All the best Bruno
